Nanovaccine Initiative Seminar
"Auranofin as a Lead Candidate for Treatment of Lymphatic Filariasis (Elephantiasis) and Onchocerciasis (River Blindness)," Judy Sakanari, parasitologist at the Center for Parasitic Diseases, University of California, San Francisco. Her lab works on a number of parasitic diseases. A reception precedes her seminar at 1:30 pm.

Photography Class: Night Photography
Learn how to capture images of the moon, star trails and city lights as Mark Stoltenberg helps you practice the techniques of taking night images with existing light. The class will meet one night on Main Street to shoot the city lights (date to be determined). Four-part course on Wednesdays, Oct. 1-22.
Training: "How to Write a P&S Position Description"
University human resources is offering training on "How to Write a Professional and Scientific Position Description" in conjunction with the new PeopleAdmin 7 system training. Anyone who writes or assists with writing position descriptions is encouraged to attend. Training is offered weekly beginning Aug. 26 through Nov. 24. Knitting Class
Learn the basics of knitting: cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off, rib stitch, increase and decrease techniques, pattern reading, gauge swatching, and picking up dropped stitches. Bring a pair of #7 or #8 single-point needles. Yarn will be provided.
Belly Dance Lessons

Regents: Special meeting on TIER cases
The Board of Regents will hear presentations on eight efficiencies or "business cases" proposed for possible implementation at the state universities. The business cases, in the areas of information technology, human resources, finance and facilities, are part of the regent's Transparent, Inclusive Efficiency Review (TIER).
Cyclone Club Luncheon
Cyclone Club luncheons are open to the public. The program, led by John Walters, features a different coach each month. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost of admission includes a catered lunch and door prizes.
Learning Community: Engaging Students through Writing
