The Art of the Steal
Join us for a screening of the film The Art of the Steal, which follows the controversy of a Philadelphia doctor's multi-billion dollar collection of Post-Impressionist paintings. Following the death of Dr. Barnes in 1951, ownership of the collection fell into question, eventually leading to the dissolution of the doctor's will. This program is part of the Art+Community Series.
Performance: Candide
Candide is an innocent young man who lives in a beautiful castle and believes he is living in the best world possible and that whatever happens is for the best. When he is banished and forced to travel through the world, he discovers that he may have been mistaken. Based on the novel by Voltaire and with music by Leonard Bernstein, "Candide" is loaded with political and social satire and with music that that is effervescent and joyous.
