Clicker Orientation Workshop
This is a brief informative session designed to introduce new faculty clicker users to teaching and learning with classroom response systems. Options available on the Iowa State University campus will be demonstrated and described.

Blackboard Learn's File Management Options
Putting files in folders and making them accessible can become the biggest obstacle to a pleasant experience in online learning. File management can be tricky in Bb Learn, but with a little practice, it becomes second nature. In this session, you will learn the basics to file management in Blackboard Learn, including how to upload/move files; create/organize folders; create an html folder; use the web folder for easy web-access.

How Do I Make Blackboard Learn's Grade Center Work for Me?
Manage who? Manage what? Move over WebCT, a new grade book has emerged in Blackboard Learn. In this session, you will learn how to use Blackboard Learn's Grade Center to manage student performance, including how to create columns, enter grades, calculate final grades, create custom Smart Views, track student activity and export and import records with Excel.
Informational session: What Can LAR Do For You?
Ron Morgan, director of Laboratory Animal Resources, will present an overview of services that LAR, clinical veterinarians and caretakers can provide, plus tips on scheduling housing needs. Those interested in attending should register by sending an e-mail to Connie Regenold.

How Can I Expand My Online Assessment Offerings with Blackboard Learn?
Blackboard Learn's robust test and survey environment supports a wide range of items and media for use with traditional assessment and practice activities. In this session, you will learn how to create tests and surveys in Bb Learn, including how to create questions; import questions from Respondus; edit test and survey settings and results; incorporate randomization; use images, audio and video; and promote academic integrity.

Faculty forum: The Power of Our Convictions
"The Power of Our Convictions: Freedom Riders Film and Facing History," a forum on the PBS film, "Freedom Riders." A discussion of the film and its implications for our lives as educators today, exploring concepts such as "universe of obligation" and experience flexible teaching strategies such as Big Paper and Town Hall Meeting.
Severe storm spotter training
Storm spotter training, presented by the National Weather Service, Des Moines, will cover a recap of the 2010 Iowa storm season, elements of storm spotting, storm safety and thunderstorm basics including lightning, cloud types and tornadoes. Training is especially encouraged for departments that have people working outdoors, but is open to all ISU faculty, staff and students. No admission, but register by phone or e-mail.
