Richard F. Hansen Lecture in Architecture: Reinier de Graaf, OMA/AMO
De Graaf directs the work of AMO, the research and design studio established as a counterpart to the Office of Metropolitan Architecture, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He has overseen AMO's increasing involvement in sustainability and energy planning, which has included the 2010 publication "Roadmap 2030: A Practical Guide to a Prosperous, Low-Carbon Europe" with the European Climate Foundation.

PoPS Studio Open House
Students and faculty in the spring-semester Products of Public Space multidisciplinary option studio will be available with a full display of student projects produced so far this semester. Focus will be on the potential for wind power and food vending in downtown Des Moines. The campus community and public are invited to stop by to view and learn more about the work and the studio.

Micro-Biblioteca Open House
Open house hosted by Studio Andino, a College of Design interdisciplinary option studio that is developing a micro-library for the community organization La Pena de los Lunes in El Carmen, Comas, Peru. Learn about the project and consider donating children's books in Spanish or English to help supply the library.
Now: Integrated Visual Arts Exhibition Opening Reception
Opening reception for exhibition of work by graduate students in the ISU integrated visual arts program. The show will be on display through May 8. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sunday.

Micro-Biblioteca Book Drive
Studio Andino, an interdisciplinary spring option studio taught by architecture associate professor Clare Cardinal-Pett, is collecting children's books appropriate for ages 3 to 12 in both Spanish and English, along with cash donations for the purchase of Spanish-language elementary school textbooks. The book drive is part of their project to build and supply a micro-library for the El Carmen neighborhood of Comas, a suburb of Lima, Peru.

Products of Public Space: David Dahlquist
The DSN S 546: Products of Public Space (PoPS) studio will host this lecture by David Dahlquist, a principal at RDG Planning & Design in Des Moines and an artist who has produced significant installations as part of both interior and exterior architectural and public space designs. Dahlquist will speak about placemaking in public spaces.

The Geography of Risk and Post-Foreclosure Residential Displacement: Andrew Greenlee
Since 2007, residential foreclosures have become a common phenomenon in many U.S. communities, impacting households across traditional strata of race and class. What happens to affected households and neighborhoods following foreclosure? Andrew Greenlee, assistant professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will examine the extent to which foreclosure risk causes residential displacement.
