Design Innovation Workshop: Architecture, Art and Environments
Day 2 of a workshop for middle and high school students that covers a basic introduction to mapping and architectural design. Participants will explore their natural environment and learn how to map and understand space. Concepts of painting and drawing also will be explored. The workshop concludes Friday, June 20.
Paint Your Own Pottery: Garden Gnomes
Join us for a fun exploration of techniques in "painting" bisque. From 3 inch minis to a foot tall "Ginormagnome," find a friend to guard your summer garden. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select. Pottery will be fired within a week for you to pick up. Pre-registration with payment is not required but a call to reserve a spot is recommended.
Bookbinding Workshop
Learn more about historical bookbinding techniques and make your own unique handmade books using variations of the Coptic stitch. Leave class with two books and the know-how to keep cutting, folding and stitching more. A perfect use for that handmade paper from the Papermaking class. Appropriate for ages 10 and up; hand sewing skills are helpful.
Woodshop Orientation Class
For the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment. Proper usage of the machinery will be covered, as well as woodshop safety. This class is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
