To honor Arbor Day this year ISU's Landscape Architecture students will honor ISU's history as well as the "Live Green" Initiative by planting three cherry trees on campus and increasing the diversity of our urban campus forest.

In tradition with Arbor Day and the cherry pies sold annually during VEISHEA, the students of Landscape Architecture are volunteering their time to plant 3 Cherry Trees near Mackay Hall (the home of the original cherry pie team - Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management).

There is a growing movement nationwide that believes Fruit trees don't just belong in orchards but everywhere. The fruit trees these students will be planting in an urban environment, can provide fresh local produce for individual homeowners or can be collected for food pantries and schools to help reduce the costs of buying and shipping fresh fruit from out of state vendors - as well as being enjoyed by many generations of VEISHEA attendees.

Dean Pamela White of the College of Human Sciences, will be among the distinguished guests in attendance.
