Opening reception and awards presentation for "Primed," the 2012 BFA Juried Senior Student Exhibition on view through April 19 in Gallery 181, first floor of the College of Design.
The show highlights 90 artworks by 45 graduating seniors in the integrated studio arts program. Media include ceramics, drawing, digital media, fiber, metal, mixed media, painting, photography and printmaking. The exhibition also features a large mural painted directly on the gallery wall.
Juror Katy Stone will select several student submissions for special recognition. Awards will be announced and she will share her remarks on the winning pieces beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Stone has exhibited her artwork in more than 40 solo and group exhibitions and completed 10 art commissions. Her work also is featured in the U.S. Art in Embassies Collection in Mumbai, India, and Baghdad, Iraq. She grew up in Iowa and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing/painting/printmaking from Iowa State in 1992. She has been living in the Pacific Northwest since receiving her Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Washington in 1994.
