Emerging museum professionals are entering a field already amidst a sea of change -- technologically, educationally, socially, theoretically, and financially. Graduate students from Western Illinois University's Museum Studies Graduate Program will lead a round table discussion. A Museums Career Panel Discussion, to be held in the Memorial Union, will follow this program and feature several current Iowa museum professionals.

The following questions will be addressed: How are Museums becoming the centers of community that actively embrace diversity? How does the pressing need for innovation control the future for museums? And what are the perils of innovation for innovation sake? How do social justice issues fit into modern and future museums? In what ways can museums be leaders in the quest for a sustainable environment? A Museums Career Panel Discussion, to be held in the Memorial Union, will follow this program and feature several current Iowa museum professionals. Both Sunday events are held in conjunction with the 2016 Iowa Museum Association Conference, and are free and open to the public.
