These stories bring science to life and encourage us to work toward a sustainable future together. ISU's CCTA focuses on sharing knowledge, discovering hope and creating community as the best ways to face growing environmental crises.
Documentary: A Meditation on Puerto Rico's Political Status
"The Last Colony: A Meditation on Puerto Rico's Political Status," an in-depth exploration of Puerto Rico's political status and its unique relationship to the United States. Jose Rosa, professor of marketing, will lead a Q&A after the screening.
Knitting Class
Sara Cady A beginning class to learn the basics of knitting: cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off, rib stitch, increase and decrease techniques, gauge swatching, and picking up dropped stitches. Practice outside of class to get muscle memory going, and you will walk away knowing how to read knitting patterns and have a new addiction to the yarn aisle. Open to ages 18+. Yarn will be provided but bring a pair of #7 or #8 single-point needles.
Magic City Hippies w/ LUTHI
This indie funk trio has international reach and sold out tour dates around the country. Their unique blend of breezy pop and party funk offer an unforgettable live experience. Nashville-based funk band LUTHI will support the show.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Color Me!
Just like a coloring book, these pieces have line drawings ready for filling in and they are super-cute! Llamas, sloths, unicorns and more on mugs and plates. We will show you the basics of painting your piece and fire it within a week. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select. Drop off but give yourself an hour.

The October showcase features folk artist Mississippi Jake and multi-instrumentalist Buz Owen.

The Iowa State University Symphony Orchestra is a premiere ensemble of the Department of Music and Theatre. Tickets available at the door or in the Music Hall office.

Whitacre is a group blurring the lines of folk, indie rock and bluegrass music. Their brand of folk-rock combines thought-provoking lyrics and high-energy live performances that led to tours with Family and Friends, Wilderado, and Wild Rivers.

Argentine Tango Lessons
Valerie Williams This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with different partners for practice. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

Acrylic Painting Class

Beginner Ukulele Lessons 1
Billy Kearney Learn the basics needed to make music on the ever-popular ukulele. It's like a guitar, only a whole lot easier! You will learn to tune your instrument and make basic chords plus how to accompany yourself or others using basic chord charts and song sheets, all in a fun and inclusive setting.
Intermediate Ukulele Lessons
Billy Kearney If you can already easily move through chord changes and are fluent with closed chords (ex: Bb, Eb, G#) but still don't know how to get "that sound," this class is for you. Learn poly rhythms and melodic chording techniques to make you ukulele playing stand out. Learn to get the most out of you uke and use more of the neck. Must be able to play chords up to tempo.
