Orchid Fest
Join Reiman Gardens for the annual Orchid Fest. Exotic orchids in a variety of species and colors will be on display and available for purchase both days.
Botanical Art: Orchids
2-week series starting Sunday, February 9, 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Painting a detailed, realistic plant is done by carefully observing the specimen and knowing how to use the medium.

Journey with your family through the exhibition Contemplate Japan and learn about the rich artistic traditions of Japan.
Iowa Songwriters Showcase
Performances by acoustic duo Danika and The Jeb. Their music is described as a soulful combination of artfully written songs and powerful musical phrasing. Two shows are scheduled (5 and 7:30 p.m.).
Cyclone Cinema: Joker
Arthur wears two masks -- the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Cows that type; hens on strike? Whoever heard of such a thing! When his granddaughter Jenny comes for a visit, Farmer Brown declares the house a tech-free zone and takes her laptop to the cold barn. But the cows are shivering and the chickens strike in solidarity in this hilarious, "moo-ving" musical about negotiation and compromise, based on the Caldecott Honor Book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin.

Reception: 'Collegiate Fashion and Activism' exhibit
"Collegiate Fashion & Activism: Black Women's Styles on the College Campus," with a focus on black women's everyday clothing and its connection to black student empowerment on Iowa college campuses. The reception includes a curator talk with graduate student Dyese Matthews and assistant professor Kelly Reddy-Best, both from the apparel, merchandising and design program. The exhibit runs through April 17.
Leatherwork Class
Create two accessories using leatherwork techniques to add a modern-western touch to your wardrobe. Start with the basics including how to cut, stamp, dye and attach snaps to make a bracelet or cuff. Move on to a belt using those techniques and learn how to add a buckle to leather. both pieces can be personalized by paint or stamp designs.

IRB Basics: Protecting Human Research Subjects
This is the second session of a three-part series that looks more indepth at components of the IRB submission process. Participants in this will discuss risk in human subjects research and approaches for minimizing or mitigating risk. We'll also examine confidentiality and data security measures to protect research subjects.

The career fair offers employers and students a professional environment to connect and discuss internships and full-time employment opportunities in human/social services; health/wellness; event management; government; and hospitality. There also will be an opportunity for students to meet with representatives from professional health and law schools.

Getting Started with LaTex and Overleaf
This hands-on workshop uses the Overleaf editor to demonstrate the basics of LaTeX. LaTeX is a powerful typesetting language often used for writing theses, dissertations, peer-reviewed journal articles, and scientific documents. Registration is required through Learn@ISU.
