Sewing Lessons

Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country's best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today's most outstanding emerging choreographers. Founded in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, the company embodies his pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people.
The Score: Run Like a Rebel Tour w/ The Unlikely Candidates & The Orphan, The Poet
The Score is an Los Angeles based rock duo. Their song Legend from their album ATLAS, is the theme song of the NBA playoffs. The Unlikely Candidates are an indie rock band based out of Forth Worth, Texas. In 2013 they debuted their EP, Follow My Feet. The Orphan The Poet is an alternative music band.

Performance: The Avett Brothers
The Avett Brothers made mainstream waves with their 2009 major label debut, I and Love and You, landing at No. 16 on the Billboard Top 200 and garnering critical acclaim. In 2012 they saw The Carpenter hit No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 followed by Magpie and the Dandelion (2013) which debuted at No. 5 on Billboard's Top 200. The band appeared twice on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Ian Edwards is a British Jamaican / American stand-up comedian, actor and writer. He has appeared on Conan, @Midnight, Huffington Post Live and more. Some of his recent writing works include being Co-Producer on Friends From Collage on Netflix, Co-Producer on Crashing HBO and other well-known TV series.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Let it Snow!
Baby, it's cold outside! Warm up with a snowman mug, adorn with ornaments and embrace the season with reindeer and other woodland friends. We will show you the basics of painting your piece and fire it within a week. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Eric Carle's books create a lasting impression on children all over the world whether writing about a brown bear, a quiet cricket, or even a hungry caterpillar, his stories instill happiness in people of all ages. Audiences will be enthralled as Little Cloud floats across the stage, the Mixed-Up Chameleon goes on an adventure to the zoo, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar nibbles through the scenes.
Argentine Tango Lessons
Valerie Williams This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with different partners for practice. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites
Three beloved stories by Eric Carle are retold on stage through the magic of black light and fanciful puppets. The Very Hungry Caterpillar eats his way through an amazing variety of foods on his path to becoming a beautiful butterfly. Little Cloud playfully transforms himself into various creatures, and The Mixed-Up Chameleon, bored with his life, attempts to emulate the animals he sees at the zoo before he realizes the value in his unique self.

"The World Made New," poetry readings by students, curated by Deb Marquart, ISU creative writing and environment. Poetry students will demonstrate how the act of writing poetry involves thoughtful work such as remembering, digging, observing, exploring, describing and imagining. Hear how the poem arrives on the page with new insights, offering in its language and imagery new ways of seeing and knowing.
