Independence Day Fireworks
Reiman Gardens is open all day on July 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to the conclusion of the fireworks display which is across the street from the Gardens. The Young Professionals of Ames, the City of Ames and Iowa State University is excited to present the fireworks.

Explore FIRST LEGO League Jr Camp
Participants (ages 8-10) learn about engineering, creativity, and teamwork through fun, engaging, hands-on activities using LEGO. A second session is offered from 1 to 4 p.m. Registration required.

Ceramic Bowl Class
Learn to prepare clay for hand-building and use a mold to create a bowl form. Finishing will include creating decorative add-ons and texture. Bowls will be bisque fired for the second class where students will glaze their pieces for the final firing.
Woven Wall Hanging Class
The popularity of weaving is back, and this is a great way to get started on your fibers journey. Learn basic skills including how to set up a small loom, knotting, and incorporating wool roving and other textures. Finish a 10" x 14" weaving in shades of cream and tan that will be ready to hang.

Silver Flora Pendant
Students will "paint" fine silver paste on real natural elements such as leaves and seed pods in the first class. Pieces will be fired in a kiln before the last class, which will burn away nature and leave a beautiful representation in silver. Students will then sand, polish and finish their one-of-a-kind pendants.
Happy Outdoor Painting Workshop
Create the kind of world you want to see in this oil painting class ala Bob Ross. Follow the lead of Levi Chytka using the wet-on-wet oil painting technique, and paint on an 11" x 17" canvas with basic tools - a couple brushes and a palette knife. Share paint with your neighbors as you create your version of Levi's painting while he works alongside you.

Exhibit: Home and Infrastructure Resilience in San Juan
Exhibition of design proposals for resilient housing and decentralized infrastructure in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by students in the interdisciplinary summer Urban Design Global Studio. Students will be available to discuss their work. The show will continue through July 20 with students on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

"Science Communication Spotlight: From Nanomedicines to Plant Ecology." Hear from two Reiman Gardens' Science Communication Fellows from Iowa State, Adam Mullis and Andrew Kaul, as they present their very different research and discuss creating hands-on activities for the public.

Walk through a step-by-step process to learn the basics of hand-lettering, create a watercolor background, and then choose a word to hand-letter over the background you create. You'll leave with a framed 5x7 artwork , a black dual-tip Tombow brush pen, and practice sheets to continue working on your hand-lettering skills. Beginners and lefties welcome!

Intermediate Glass Beads Workshop
Who needs Bill Nye, the Science Guy? Experiment with different Effetre glasses that cause color reactions to take your beads to the next level. You will also learn how to create a reduction flame and play with the effects. Supply fee includes glass for class time only, and propane/MAPP is available for purchase if needed.
