She previously was a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, serving as chair from 1993-2004. Linda Niehm, recipient of the 2009 Rossman-Manatt award, has built her career around the concept of integrative research between academia and rural community entrepreneurship. Her lecture will provide an overview of successful research and outreach projects, specifically focusing on a current USDA-NRI grant on community resiliency and recent rural business and community outreach projects in Oskaloosa and Elkader, Iowa.
