Research workshop: Human Research Basics -- Informed Consent
This is the third part of a four-part series that looks more closely at the components of the IRB submission process. In this session, participants will learn about the informed consent process, including participant recruitment and the informed consent document. Discussion will center around what's required of you as the researcher, and best practices for designing and administering consent.

CANCELED: Research workshop: Integrating Societal Impacts into Your Proposal, Career and Research Identity
Learn how to build a broader impacts effort in the context of your research. This workshop, presented by the Grants Hub and the NSF-funded Center for Advancing Research Impacts in Society (ARIS Center), will help participants understand the broader impacts criterion, develop and incorporate strong BI plans into grant proposals, and identify local partners and resources. There will be some emphasis on NSF CAREER proposals.

Research workshop: Working with IACUC or IBC Protocols Using a-tune
The Office for Responsible Research, Office of the Attending Veterinarian and Laboratory Animal Resources are offering software training for researchers who submit IACUC or IBC protocols. Participants will learn how to navigate the new electronic protocol submission system, a-tune. Training topics will include creating and submitting a protocol, and, for animal users of LAR, how to order animals and manage animal records.

Learn about NIH-specific requirements, including budgets and budget justifications. We'll also touch on salary caps, just-in-time requests, standard due dates and start dates, and proposal scoring. You'll walk away with tips, tricks and common issues with proposal development, and you'll have some useful resources to help you through the proposal development process. Come prepared with your pre-award and proposal development questions.

Join OSPA and SPA as we examine the Uniform Guidance's expanded requirements for subrecipient monitoring on federal financial assistance awards. We will review roles and responsibilities within Iowa State along with important source documents. We also will discuss how subrecipient agreements are customized to reflect risk and to enhance monitoring.
