Class: Botanical Drawing
This is a 6 week course on Mondays March 23, March 30, April 6, April 13, April 20, & April 27 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Learn how to use plants as the subject of art with easy approaches & successive lessons. Learn from artist Megan Henson as you draw from flowers & plants in the classroom, the Hughes Conservatory, & even get inspired by those early spring blooms in outside. Use your drawings for nature journals, hand-made cards, & more.
Workshop: Papermaking
This is a 3 week course on Thursdays, April 2, April 9, and April 16 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Learn to form sheets of handmade paper using pulp prepared from recycled materials in this hands-on class that makes a splash. Please bring an apron if you have one, and come prepared to make a mess. Great for anyone ages 10 and up.

Spring Egg Hunt
Festivities will include an egg hunt for all children 6th grade and younger. Children will have the opportunity to search for colorful eggs to trade in for a goodie bag. Goodie bags will be provided. The morning will also include craft and activity stations as well as a visit from Reiman Gardens' Spring Bunny.
Workshop: Dish Garden
Create an out-of-this-world succulent dish garden to give as a gift or to keep for your own home. Choose from a variety of unique succulent plants as Horticulturist, Ed Moran, provides all the information you need to design your garden and care for it year-round. All materials will be provided, including soil, plants, top-dressing, decorative stones, and a 12" terra cotta container.

Class: Beginner Photography
This is a 4 week course on Tuesdays beginning April 7, April 14, April 21, & April 28 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. This 4-part workshop covers the basics of photography including equipment & how to use it, depth of field, aperture, light, composition, finding your subject & tips & tricks. Each class is broken into 3 parts: classroom discussion, hands-on practice taking pictures by the students & review. Bring your DSLR camera & tripod to each class.
Workshop: Perfume Blending Intensive
This is a 6 week course on Tuesdays April 7, April 14, April 21, April 28, May 5, & May 12 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Those who complete this 6-week intensive workshop will leave with their own uniquely developed fragrance, 1 kit of 10 essences, & a Certificate of Perfume Blending from Amanda Feeley, natural perfumer & owner of Esscentual Alchemy. Amanda will teach you the background, skills, & preparation you'll need to become a natural perfumer.

Willow Trellis Creation Workshop
Create your own trellis from willow with artists Pam Dennis and Ryk Weiss. Participants will get an opportunity to artfully construct a trellis perfect for vining and climbing plants. All materials will be provided and no previous experience is necessary. Participants need to bring a small bow saw, sharp anvil pruning shears, small hammer, and wire cutters.

Sentinel Plant Network First Detector Training
Reiman Gardens' staff will take you through the steps to become a certified First Detector, in the ever-increasing effort to detect and diagnose "high-consequence" pests and pathogens, such as the emerald ash borer and the Asian long-horned beetle.

Learn about historical bookbinding techniques and make your own unique handmade books from recycled papers, using variations of the Coptic stitch. Leave class with two or more books and the know-how to keep cutting, folding and stitching more. A perfect use for that handmade paper from our Papermaking Workshop.

Take an active role in conservation as a citizen scientist through the Iowa Butterfly Survey Network (IBSN), with this free training from our entomology staff. Learn survey techniques specifically developed for butterflies so you can help monitor butterfly populations, & provide valuable data to identify potential threats, show effectiveness of habitat restoration efforts, & give an snapshot of the health of all butterfly populations in Iowa.
