Recent decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court have altered Americans understanding of privacy, freedom of religion, and personal liberties. The Constitution Day expert panel will discuss the immediate legal effects and how other personal freedoms could be affected by upcoming cases.
Lecture: A Legacy of Excellence: The History of the New Farmers of America
Antoine Alston, Iowa State alum and associate dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University, will speak his newly released book, "The Legacy of the New Farmers of America," a historical narrative about a national organization meant for Black farm boys studying vocational agriculture in high school.

Workshop: Getting Started with LaTeX and Overleaf
This hands-on workshop uses the Overleaf editor to demonstrate the basics of LaTeX. Attendees will work through examples, experiment with common features, and take away a list of additional resources that can be used after the workshop to explore further.
Digital Humanities 101: Intro to Text Analysis
his workshop will introduce participants to the basic concepts of text analysis for working with datasets from novels to Tweets as well as some examples of compelling text analysis projects. Participants will also get hands-on experience exploring and visualizing datasets with tools such as Google Books NGram Viewer and Voyant Tools.
Fearless Governance
A public reception will begin at 5pm. Dr. Bedi will speak at 6pm. Dr. Kiran Bedi was the first woman to join the officer ranks of Indian Police Service in1972. She was the 24th Lt Governor of Puducherry and served the United Nations as Civilian Police Advisor in Peace Keeping Operations. Her latest book Fearless Governance is based on ground realities as she saw while serving as the Lt. Governor in Puducherry.

This in-person career fair offers employers and students a professional environment to connect and discuss internships and full-time employment opportunities in human/social services; health/wellness; event management; government; and hospitality. There also will be an opportunity for students to meet with representatives from professional health and law schools.
Charles E. "Chick" Herbert Lecture in Architecture: Martino Stierli, MoMA
Martino Stierli, chief curator of architecture and design at the Museum of Modern Art, will discuss the curatorial concept and organization of "The Project of Independence: Architectures of Decolonization in South Asia, 1947-1985," the recent MoMa exhibition on modern architecture on the Indian Subcontinent in the post-Independence era.
ISU Innovation Prize
The competition theme for the seventh annual ISU Innovation Prize event, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, is "Innovation at Iowa State." There will be three focus areas for participants to solve: AgTech, EdTech, and Global Impact.

Green Dot Trot 4K
The Green Dot Trot is a fun run/walk/stroll/roll for anyone in the ISU community that wants to support the Green Dot mission of ending sexual assault and violence on campus. Participants will have the opportunity to get a free Green Dot Trot T-shirt, followed by a complimentary breakfast. Admission is free, but participants are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items for The SHOP food pantry. Registration requested.
Bonsai Show
Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2, 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Reiman Gardens and the Iowa Bonsai Association (IBA) welcome you to their annual Bonsai Show. Bonsai, an ancient Asian art form that weds plant horticulture and art, is a rapidly growing and popular passion in the West.
