Class: Black and White Digital Photography
This is a 4 week course on Wednesdays, July 2, July 9, July 16, and July 23 This course builds on the technical foundations of digital photography, expanding practical skills while also fostering your aesthetic awareness and vision as a photographer. Mark Stoltenberg will help you look at the world in a whole new way as you further explore the tools, techniques and identify the best subject matter to create black and white digital images.
Texture in Oil Painting Class
From sgraffito scratches to swaths of buttery color to mountainous ridges of paint, this workshop will explore different techniques for creating texture in oil paintings. We will also experiment with painting knives and impasto medium to create a variety of physical textures. Bring an image or idea to work with. Basic experience painting with oils is required.

Youth Program: Plant Pals
Join us and cultivate a real garden at Reiman Gardens. We will learn about and grow lots of vegetables, pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Each session has hands-on activities to interact with all the wonderful plants that we enjoy and eat. Classes are great for kids of all ages to participate in with an adult.

"Animal Flight - From Scales to Skin" presented by Dr. Rhea von Busse, Visiting Scholar, Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology, Iowa State University Bring your lunch to the Gardens and enjoy an education program. Attend each month and experience a new topic presented by local and regional professionals and lecturers.
Paint Your Own Pottery: Bubble Painting
Join us for a fun exploration of techniques in "painting" bisque. This is sort of like blowing bubbles when you were a kid, but we do it with a straw and paint. The popped bubbles show up and make interesting patterns on the finished pieces. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select. Pottery will be fired within a week for you to pick up.
Nesting Boxes Class
Make a 6, 5 & 4 inch set of nesting boxes. Part of the class will utilize hand tools to learn a traditional hand joinery technique. Then learn to use the machinery to make boxes efficiently. The Woodshop Orientation class is helpful, but not required for this class.

The Art Abandonment Project - Mixed Media Class
Express yourself through random acts of art and join the abandonment movement! Create something for the joy of making it, and then leave it for an unsuspecting person to find - on a table at the coffee shop, on a park bench, or anywhere a stranger might stumble upon it. The Workspace will provide the supplies and demonstrate some techniques to get you started.

Garden Art Fair
The 11th Annual Garden Art Fair at Reiman Gardens provides an opportunity for artists to share their garden and nature inspired art with the public. Visitors can browse a variety of artist's works and buy products including jewelry, watercolor, pottery, woodwork, glass, and more. Food vendors will provide food throughout the day, and a variety of live music performances will complement the art.
Argentine Tango Practica Class
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4 - 5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better.

Great Plants for Iowa Series: Ornamental Grasses
This series will allow participants to develop knowledge of the wide variety of garden plants that grow well in Central Iowa. Covering nearly 500 plants, these 16 classes are spread across several years. Each class focuses on identification, cultural requirements, and the use of the plants in gardens and the broader landscape.

Kids Story Time
Each session features a theme with two or three books read aloud followed by a related craft or activity. The books, crafts and activities are intended for children ages two to seven years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Patterned Patina Jewelry Class
Experiment with creating patinas (surface designs) in copper. Try an exciting new technique using stamps, ink and a torch. Then create blues and greens with homemade patina recipes. Learn basic metalsmithing techniques to create beautiful bangles, earrings or pendants.
