Chess to Impress: United Way of Story County fundraiser
Challenge Distinguished Professor of electrical and computer engineering David Jiles to a game on the library's 8 by 8-foot chess board. If you win, Jiles will donate $50 to United Way of Story County. Up to 9 games can be played simultaneously. Spectators welcome.
University Museums 40th Anniversary Celebration
This anniversary celebration will feature designer desserts, fanciful floral creations, libations, cash bar and live music. A brief program begins at 8:30 p.m. Cocktail attire requested.

Learn about water quality and the use of vegetated floating islands as a low-maintenance, inexpensive way to reduce excess nutrients in ponds and lakes. See how much plant and root growth has occurred over the summer on the VFIs on Lake LaVerne and talk with researchers about the project. Build your own small VFI!
