Mexican Americans and the Administration of Justice, 1970-Today
U.S. Latino/a Studies Faculty Lectures Series, Spring 2021 This presentation tests that analysis by demarcating Mexican American and police interactions from 1970 to the present day. To do that, Dr. Brian Behnken focus on three examples where interactions between Mexican people and law enforcement resulted in the exposure of the inner workings of the entirety of the criminal justice system.

NSF CAREER Workshop
Recent NSF CAREER grant awardees will be talking about their experiences in developing their proposals and provide tips on the process. Additionally, the Grants Hub will provide information on the differing requirements of the NSF CAREER program, broader impacts plans, and budget planning.
Documentary screening and discussion
"The Bearded Lady Project: Challenging the Face of Science" is a 22-minute film that demonstrates the competencies and passions of female paleontologists and how this gendered stereotype can be easily diminished with the donning of a beard.
Virtual Artist's Talk: Carol Faber
Carol Faber, ISU associate professor of graphic design and a participant in the "20 Artists, 20 Parks" exhibition on view at the Sioux City Art Center Jan. 30-May 9, will share her creative process and describe the work she created for the show in a virtual artist's talk. "Crushing It," poems by Jennifer Knox, associate teaching professor of English. Her poems have appeared in journals such as The New Yorker, Poetry, American Poetry Review, Granta, and five times in The Best American Poetry series. She is the recipient of fellowships from the Iowa Arts Council and the Milwaukee County Arts Fund. Along with teaching and writing, she is the proprietor of Saltlickers, a small spice-blend company.Â
