Linda Niehm, recipient of the 2009 Rossman-Manatt award, has built her career around the concept of integrative research between academia and rural community entrepreneurship. Her lecture will provide an overview of successful research and outreach projects, specifically focusing on a current USDA-NRI grant on community resiliency and recent rural business and community outreach projects in Oskaloosa and Elkader, Iowa.

Niehm, who has worked to combine research, teaching, and outreaching into her curriculum, will also share her vision for a College of Human Sciences entrepreneurship center, where students can conceptualize and hone their creative ideas for business, community, and social entrepreneurship ventures.
