James Ehlers has been the Don & Mary Glaser Distinguished Professor of Engraving Arts at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kan., since 2007. It is the first and only program in the world to offer a BFA in engraving arts.
Ehlers received a BA from McNeese State University (2000), MA from Bradley University (2002) and MFA from the University of Florida (2005). He has demonstrated engraving at Nicholls State University, the Kansas City Art Institute, the University of Kansas and at the IMPACT Conference in Bristol, England. He will be teaching engraving this summer at the famed Frogman's Print and Paper Workshops. Ehlers also recently completed a two-week residency at the Guanlan Print Base in Shenzen, China.
Ehlers' work is in a number of collections, including the Spencer Museum of Art and the Engraving Museum of Douro, Alijo, Portugal. His work has been exhibited in Bulgaria, Canada, Italy, Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, and in shows throughout the US.
