Michael Hamm is the C. S. Mott Professor of Sustainable Agriculture at Michigan State University. His work focuses on developing sustainable community and regional food systems from the producer to the consumer. The 2011-12 Helen LeBaron Hilton Chair in Human Sciences.

Michael Hamm's work encompasses such topics as policy development, small-scale farm viability, equity in food access, and institutional markets. He was previously on the faculty at Rutgers University, where he served as Dean of Academic and Student Programs at Cook College. While at Rutgers he was cofounder and director of the New Jersey Urban Ecology Program, facilitator for the New Jersey Cooperative Gleaning Network and the founding director of the Cook Student Organic Farm.

Hamm is affiliated with the Departments of Community, Agriculture, Recreation and Resource Studies; Crop and Soil Sciences; and Food Science and Human Nutrition at Michigan State. He earned his PhD at the University of Minnesota.
