Youth Matinee Series Performance (Grades 4-12): Iowa State University Symphony Orchestra, featuring Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev.

Featuring Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev

Jacob Harrison, ISU Director of Orchestral Activities, and the 80-member ISU Symphony Orchestra perform the timeless classic Peter and the Wolf as part of a light-hearted, narrated program exploring the instruments and sounds of the orchestra.

Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf is a perennial favorite that enchants children of all ages and gives them an introduction to classical music that can last a lifetime. It is the story of an enterprising little boy named Peter, who, together with a duck, a cat and a bird, outsmarts a wolf (and hunters!) and leads everyone to the zoo in a triumphant procession.

After the performance, follow the parade of instruments to the lobby to meet the 'characters' of Peter and the Wolf in ISU's own 'instrument petting zoo,' an opportunity to see and hear the instruments up close.
