A symposium to honor the 70th birthday of Dan Shechtman, ISU professor of materials science and engineering. Presentations by Walter Steurer, ETH Zurich, Switzerland; Ron Lifshitz, Tel Aviv University, Israel; David Rabson, University of Southern Florida; and Pat Thiel, ISU and U.S. Department of Energy's Ames Laboratory.

Professor Shechtman is well known for his important scientific discovery of quasicrystals, which ignited a scientific revolution and changed the way we understand solid matter.
