Join David R. Evans, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, and vice president of the Turkish American Society of Iowa, for a presentation and exhibition of Turkish ceramic art from his personal collection. Then enjoy a reception featuring traditional Turkish food. Sponsored by the College of Design, Turkish Student Association and TASIOWA.

Although his academic background is in British literature, David Evans has traveled in Turkey and studied Turkish art and culture for 20 years, during which time he has developed substantial interest and expertise in Turkish ceramic traditions. In 2007, Evans organized and curated an exhibition and demonstration of Turkish ceramics at Oklahoma City University, and he has worked extensively with Turkish groups on intercultural and interfaith issues since 2005.

The exhibition will highlight about 30 examples of decorative ceramic vases, plates and bowls from Evans' personal collection. Evans will be available to answer questions after his presentation. The reception will showcase a range of traditional Turkish foods. All are invited to attend.

Sponsored by the College of Design, Turkish Student Association and Turkish American Society of Iowa (TASIOWA).
