Joe Taets is Senior Vice President at Archer Daniels Midland Company and an Iowa State alum. He leads ADM's Agricultural Services business unit and is also part of the company's Strategic Planning Committee. The Carl and Marjory Hertz Lecture on Emerging Issues in Agriculture

Joe Taets will discuss ADM's view of how global agriculture can expand to meet the food, feed, fuel and fiber needs of a growing global population with appropriate innovations, investments and partnerships. He will also discuss the value of pursuing careers in the agricultural sector.


Archer Daniels Midland Company buys, processes and sells agricultural commodities and products. Headquartered in Decatur, Illinois, ADM converts corn, oilseeds, wheat and cocoa into products for food, animal feed, chemical and energy uses. It also operates a transportation network that connects crops and markets globally in more than 75 countries.

Joseph Daniel Taets has been Senior Vice President and President of Agricultural Services Business Unit at Archer Daniels Midland Company since August 2011. Mr. Taets serves as the President of European Crushing and Refinery Division at Archer Daniels Midland Company, Decatur, USA. Mr. Taets served as Vice President of Archer Daniels Midland Company and had been its President of Grain since December 1, 2010. Mr. Taets served as Vice President of Grain Group at Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. until December 2010 and served as its Vice President since September 2009. Mr. Taets served as the Managing Director of European Oilseeds for Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. since September 11, 2007. Mr. Taets served as the President of ADM European Oilseed Processing since February 7, 2003. He has held various trading and management positions in both the North American and European oilseed groups. Mr. Taets served as Vice President of Soybean Crushing for ADM''s European operations. He served as Vice-Chairman and Member of the Supervisory Board at ADM Hamburg Aktiengesellschaft until December 31, 2009. Mr. Taets received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural business from Iowa State University in 1988 and an MBA from Drake University in 1992.
