Learn basic techniques for working with vine and compressed charcoals, pencils, and Conté, as well as how to combine charcoal with graphite and other media. Emphasis will also be given on preparing, layering, and protecting charcoal drawings.

This is a great intro for students wishing to develop skills in a new medium by adding expressiveness and sensitivity to drawings with the rich and subtle tones of charcoal. Leave class with a great starter set of supplies to continue working on your own. Basic drawing skills are helpful for this class.
