Kevin Schilling will celebrate his 40 years as the oboe and bassoon teacher at Iowa State University with a recital on April 29, 2012.

Dr. Schilling will perform on oboe, English horn, and bassoon. He will be assisted by colleagues Lynn Zeigler, long-time duo partner in Basically Baroque, organ; Jodi Goble and WIlliam David, piano; mezzo-soprano Mary Creswell; and Mary Foss, harp.

Selections will include music of J.S. Bach; Three Piece Suite for oboe and piano by Madeleine Dring; an aria from The Damnation of Faust by Berlioz for mezzo-soprano and English horn with piano; and the Sonata for bassoon and piano by Camille Saint-Saëns. Saint-Saëns was fond of the harp and often imitated the character of that instrument in his piano writing. This performance will experiment using the harp itself to sound like the harp!
