Performed by the ISU Opera Studio, a required ensemble for voice majors directed in a workshop format. The entire operetta will be performed, but with piano accompaniment rather than an orchestra, and minimal set and costumes.

Nanki-Poo, the Mikado's son, has fled from his father's palace to escape an arranged marriage to Katisha, an elderly lady of the court. Disguised as a musician, he meets and falls in love with Yum-Yum. However, he cannot marry her because Ko-Ko, her guardian, has decided to marry her himself. Nanki-Poo learns that Ko-Ko has been sentenced to death for violating the Mikado's law against flirting.
