Susan J. Lamont has been a faculty member in the department of Animal Science at Iowa State University for over 30 years, and is currently a C.F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She leads an active research program with an emphasis on determining the molecular genetic control of important biological traits.
Dr. Lamont has extensive global research collaborations and has published over 175 peer-reviewed journal papers and invited book chapters. She has won numerous awards from Iowa State University and scientific organizations, recognizing her contributions in research and service.
Dr. Lamont is actively engaged in graduate education, teaching three graduate courses, directing a USDA graduate training grant, and mentoring PhD students in her lab. She also has filled administrative posts, including serving as the chair of her department, chair of the interdepartmental Immunobiology program, assistant director of research for her college, and she is currently the Equity Advisor for her college.
