This is a six week lecture series with a different topic each time. You can attend one or all six classes. Other class dates include, October 14, October 28, November 4, November 11 and November 18.
The goal of the talks and book is to present botany, horticulture and plant science in gardener terminology, simplifying complex information and offering useful advice based on the most current research. The first 90 minutes will be presentation, with the final 30 minutes open for questions specific to participants' own situations and experiences. Register for the series to receive a discount, as well as a free copy of Ed Lyon's accompanying book, Growing the Midwest Garden; or sign up for individual classes to suit your interests.
Most soils classes are snoozers, because they are presented by soil scientists who don't "translate" the science into gardener terminology and emphasize why each factor is relevant and important from a gardening perspective. But soils are the single most critical component to successful gardening! Learn how not to invest hundreds to thousands of dollars in plant materials that fail because soil requirements have not been considered and addressed. Additional cultural considerations for healthy plants will also be discussed.
Preregistration with prepayment is required by Wednesday, October 14. $20 for members & $25 for general public. ISU students pay 15% off member price
