Dr. Jon Kaas is a Distinguished Centennial Professor at Vanderbilt University and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Kaas has made substantial research contributions toward the understanding of the connections and functions of the cerebral cortex within the mammalian brain. His work has also provided key insights into the field of evolutionary biology of mammals.

He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2000 and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2001.
