Some might say that we've entered the 'Exoplanet Era' in astronomy, as each year brings hundreds of new discoveries of planetary systems around other stars. Simply by "staring" at stars for those brief moments when their planets block some of their light, we can deduce a wealth of information about their planetary systems including the size and composition of their planets. One key property is the size of the host star, which is often revealed by sound waves within the star producing regular (but tiny) light variations--allowing us to use the same data to find the planets and probe their stellar host.
