Born and raised in the South Bronx, New York City, he grew up in a bicultural environment. He encourages his audiences to become more aware of the rich history and accomplishments of their ancestors as well as the cultural heritage of their neighbors and colleagues. He has performed at such venues as Carnegie Hall and the Detroit Institute of Arts and has given poetry readings at the National Museum of the American Indian and the Nuyorican Poets Café. González is the author of The Last Puerto Rican Indian: A Collection of Dangerous Poetry.
