Skop is a winner of the prestigious Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers and has been recognized as a Remarkable Women in Science from the AAAS.
Her science and art have been featured by Apple and Science, and for the past fifteen years she has organized an annual Worm Art Show for the International C. elegans Meeting.
Skop, who is of Cherokee Nation descent, has worked extensively with Native communities and serves on the National Board of Directors for the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native American Scientists.
