As recent developments with the Dakota Access Pipeline have highlighted, infrastructure and planning projects that affect Native communities face unique challenges. This is not only true on or near reservations, but anywhere in the United States. This panel will try to unpack some of these issues and discuss regulations, laws, best practices, and solutions. The presenters are a Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO), an archaeologist with decades of experience, and an anthropologist who has worked with the Department of Defense on projects nationwide. Their knowledge will contribute to successful work on engineering projects and community planning.
