Vine Deloria, Jr. was not only one of the most influential figures in Native Studies. He was also an ISU graduate. The American Indian Studies program at ISU - one of the oldest in the country - would do well in anchoring itself in some of his wisdom. For this presentation, the director of AIS will outline some thoughts on Vine Deloria, Jr., Native Studies in general, and how it can and should be relevant for a land-grant university. Working with tribes is a must for many different projects and disciplines in North America, and re-reading Deloria is a great starting point for successfully engaging a thoughtful collaboration.
