The L.A. based four-piece was formed and assembled by front man Joe Jonas in the summer of 2015. Before DNCE, Jonas was known from his former group the Jonas Brothers, which started in 2005, and went on to sell more than 17 million albums worldwide. The other bandmates include bassist & keyboardist Cole Whittle, who co-founded the band Semi Precious Weapons, South Korean bred guitarist JinJoo, who has toured with the Jonas Brothers, Charli XCX, and CeeLo Green, and drummer Jack Lawless, who has previously joined the Jonas Brothers, Night Terrors of 1927, and Soft Swells on the road.
Released in May 2016 the band's second single, "Toothbrush," made its mark with a highly buzzed about music video featuring supermodel Ashley Graham. To date, the video has amassed nearly 40 million views, garnering wide critical praise from media outlets like Entertainment Weekly, InStyle, People, and Rolling Stone.
In 2016, DNCE made a cameo during Fox's Grease: Live, where they performed as Johnny Casino and The Gamblers. Later that year, the band won the "Best New Artist" at the MTV Video Music Awards. On November 18, 2016, they released their self- titled debut album- DNCE. The album includes their most recent hit song "Body Moves".
