Observational data on M51 and M33 have been used to reconstruct initial conditions for a simple galaxy collision simulations. Statistical likelihoods of various types of gas cloud collisions are calculated by overlaying these maps in a range of types of collisions. With likelihoods known we can then produce simple models of merger evolution and compare the differences. The hope is these computationally simple models will be eventually able to go beyond the resolution of hydro models and help us see smaller structure in direct galaxy collisions.
