A Gathering of Waters: The Río Grande, Source to the Seas is a short documentary by Basia Irland focusing on the 1,875 miles of the Rio Grande and its importance to the hundreds of groups who rely on it. The project took 5 years to complete and explores the river's cultural, ecological, and environmental impact on the life of humans and wildlife.

Basia Irland is an author, poet, sculptor, installation artist, and activist who creates international water projects. Through her work, Irland offers a creative understanding of water while examining how communities of people, plants, and animals rely on this vital element. She often works with scholars from diverse disciplines building rainwater harvesting systems; connecting communities and fostering dialogue along the entire length of rivers; filming and producing water documentaries; sculpting hand-carved ice books embedded with native riparian seeds; and creating waterborne disease projects around the world.

Please join us for a public viewing of Irland's documentary in the reACT Gallery. Film length: 27 minutes.
