National Farmworker Awareness Week (NFAW) is a week of action for students and community members to raise awareness about farmworker issues on our campuses and in our communities. In 2018, we celebrate the 19th Annual National Farmworker Awareness Week to raise awareness about farmworker conditions and to honor their important contributions to us every day.
Engineering Student Services will hold a long-sleeve shirt drive for farmworkers in Iowa during this awareness week. March 25-30, information tables and drop-off boxes will be in the Marston Hall front entrance and Parks Library.
Parks Librarian Lorrie Pellack has put together a Farmworker Awareness Library Guide that includes items on a range of topics: healthcare, farm safety, advocating for pesticide reform, child farmworkers, family life, migrant workers from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and, of course, many related to Cesar Chavez and the Farmworkers Movement.
