Iowa's top science and math students in grades 6-8 face off in a Q&A format in which contestants are quizzed on their knowledge of math and a range of science disciplines.

The winning team receives an all-expenses-paid trip to the DOE's National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C.

This is one of the regional competitions held across the nation. Hoover Hall is the site of registration and the championship round.

7:30 a.m., Registration and continental breakfast
8 a.m., Welcome & Announcements
8:30 a.m., Practice Rounds
9:30 a.m., Round-robin competition
11 a.m., Tie Breaker (if needed)
11:20 a.m., Lunch at Union Drive Dining Center (free for coaches, teams and volunteers)
12:30 p.m., Double-elimination (top 12 teams determined by round robin)
4 p.m., Championship and awards ceremony
