Associate professor of English Abby Dubisar will describe what we can learn from farmers' archives and argue for a greater emphasis on collecting their artifacts. Doing so enhances our understanding of Iowa's history and teaches us about the diverse work performed by farmers, as well as their immense contributions to communities. Audience members will learn more about farmer archives and may be inspired to seek them out.
Dubisar's talk complements "Activist Agriculture: Farm Protest in Iowa, 1929-1969," the current SCUA exhibition on display in 403 Parks Library through January 2019.
