With Adrienne Gennett, University Museums Associate Curator
The madness for Chinese and Japanese porcelain captivated Western Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries, along with designs and motifs that represented the exotic unknown of the Eastern world. The porcelain imported and made by Europeans perfectly represents these influences and tastes that reached the height of artistry in this period, but would later lead to the overabundance of export wares found in the 19th and 20th centuries. Join Associate Curator Adrienne Gennett as she uses examples from University Museums' permanent collection of European and Asian porcelain to examine these influences.
