This annual concert, started by ISU director of orchestras Jonathan Govias in spring 2017 at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, will feature the ISU Symphony Orchestra, one or two guest artists and scores created by female, African American and Mexican composers.

Confirmed for this spring's concert is Adrian Anantawan, a Canadian violinist born without a right hand. In addition to performing professionally all over the world, Anantawan serves as music department chair at the K-12 Milton Academy in suburban Boston.

Govias calls the concerts "an effort to model positive racial and ethnic inclusion through a traditionally white art form." The orchestra and the music advocate for diversity, absent any rhetoric.

A school matinee performance will begin at 10 a.m. March 6.
