Denise Williams wrote her first book in the 2nd grade. I Hate You and its sequel, I Still Hate You, featured a tough, funny heroine, a quirky hero, witty banter, and a dragon. Minus the dragons, these are still the books she likes to write. After penning those early works, she finished second grade and eventually earned a PhD from ISU. After growing up a military brat around the world and across the country, Denise now lives here in Iowa with her husband, son, and two ornery shih-tzus. She is the assistant director of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and How to Fail at Flirting is her debut novel. Her second novel, The Fastest Way to Fall, will be available this November. Website
Rachel Mans McKenny was a late bloomer, by Denise's standards, finishing her first book in the fourth grade. Since then, she graduated from Creighton University with a major in Creative Writing and from Iowa State with a master's in Literature. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, McSweeney's, and other places, and her first published novel, The Butterfly Effect, was released in December 2020. She works in the English and Speech departments at Iowa State. Website: http://www.rachelmansmckenny.com/
