John Hill, ISU professor emeritus of physics and a Quester, will discuss naturally produced glass followed by an examination of glass making from prehistoric times until the modern era. This program includes a reception.

The emphasis will be on the various chemicals and minerals used to enhance the mechanical and visual properties of glass by showing examples of minerals and illustrating with art glass from the permanent collection. He will end with some of the newest uses of glass that may enhance the battery performance of digital devices in the future.

In conjunction with the exhibition Reflections of Iowa: The History of Iowa Questers through Glass.
