America Recycles Day (also known as National Recycling Day) is celebrated on November 15. It is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. America Recycles Day is a day is focused on individual action. Encouraging individuals to rethink, reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle in every aspect of their everyday wasteprint.
Iowa State University will be celebrating in a number of ways on Wednesday, November 15!
1. In the morning of November 15, Steve Kohtz, ISU Recycling Coordinator will join members of the Iowa
Recycling Association in attending Governor Kim Reynolds signing of the official proclamation of America Recycles Day, in Iowa at the Iowa State Capitol.
2. From 1-3 p.m., Steve will be tabling under the University Library overhang and discussing recycling opportunities and benefits as well as promoting his "Fill the Bins," challenge for ISU students, faculty and staff.
3. Throughout the day a yard sign parade will be set along the central campus North sidewalk promoting various recycling facts and "did you know" tidbits.
4. From 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., students, faculty and staff will be encouraged to share, show and celebrate their ideas and implementations for reducing, reusing and upcycling materials in their everyday life, by posting on social media
and tagging isurecycles on Instagram. All entries will be entered into a drawing for a set of recycling storage totes.
5. From 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., post your "mug shot"! Take a selfie of you and your reusable water bottle or coffee mug and tag isurecycles on Instagram to be entered into a drawing for a Cyclone refillable Stanley water bottle.
