Diary of a Worm, a Spider & a Fly
Insects rule in the diaries of unlikely best friends: Worm, Spider and Fly. Worm eats his homework, Fly believes she has superpowers, and Spider can't wait to grow up and molt. This production, based on the books Diary of a Worm, Diary of a Spider, and Diary of a Fly, by Doreen Cronin, promotes eco-consciousness, earth science and tolerance of others.
Friday Research Seminar: Canopy as an Architectural 'Parti'
In her book "The Framing of Sacred Space: The Canopy and the Byzantine Church," Jelena Bogdanovic, associate professor of architecture, provides an innovative interpretation of the relationships between the canopy and the design of the Byzantine church. She will discuss the canopy as an architectural "parti" -- a guiding idea for design -- that generated unique experiences of being in space. Part of the IDRO Friday Research Seminar Series.

Speaker Tour: We Can End AIDS
The Student Global AIDS Campaign is on tour on campuses across the U.S. to bring the message that we can stop AIDS. Recent news of a second person cured of HIV has brought renewed attention to the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Four speakers, from the United Kingdom, Zimbabwe, the U.S. and South Africa, will talk about how HIV and AIDS have impacted their personal lives, and why people should support the prevention of HIV.

Spring into Arts Festival
The Community-Engaged Arts Management class taught by Jennifer Drinkwater, assistant professor of art and visual culture, will host this celebration of spring festivals. The family-friendly event will feature interactive art and craft projects, including make-your-own May Day treat baskets, a community-crafted flower wall and a collaborative outdoor Holi piece.

Workshop: Morel mushroom certification
To legally sell morel mushrooms in Iowa, sellers must complete a certification workshop that covers identifying morels and false morels. People can be poisoned by eating mushrooms that are misidentified as morels. By the end of the workshops, participants will recognize true morels from false morels. Register online.

The Last Bison w/ Ben Schrag & The Cautionaries
In the past they have been compared to indie superstars the likes of Mumford & Sons, The Decemberists, and Fleet Foxes. However, their VA project harvested a more dynamic, and anthemic sound from the soil of their folk roots. The addition of electric bass and keyboards to their extensive collection of acoustic instruments gave them a more dynamic, driving sound.

Walk-in Argentine Tango
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for better dancing. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie Williams, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.
