BRA (Bras to Recycle and Aid Women) Collection
In partnership with I Support the Girls, the Office of Sustainability is collecting gently-used and unwanted bras toward supporting Central Iowa women in need.

An annual conference to present scholarly papers, present and discuss the arts and entrepreneurship, address other issues pertinent to the Society such as pedagogy, outreach and conducting the business of the society.
Glass Beads Intensive Workshop
Rhonda Scott Learn to create colorful beads by heating and shaping glass with a torch - yes, we get to work with fire! This fast-paced workshop will be packed with information about safety, equipment, and techniques for creating a variety of beads. Leave class with a stash of beads and the know-how to continue on your own. For very beginners or a great refresher for those who would like to brush up on their skills.
Story Time with the Lorax
Story Time at the Bookstore is back! The Lorax will be here Oct. 19th at 10:30 to read some of his favorite books and meet you all! AND the first 100 kids will receive an Iowa State reusable tote! Come meet the Lorax, have your picture taken and learn about sustainability with us. This is a free event and you'll receive an hour off parking in the Memorial Union ramp with a purchase inside the store.

October 19, 4:00 - 10:00 p.m. and October 20, 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. SEE 1,000 INCREDIBLY DETAILED, CARVED LIT PUMPKINS AT THE JACK-O-LANTERN WALK! Wear your favorite costume and come trick-or-treat at Reiman Gardens. Additional activities include: Meet-A-Scientist, a professional magician, dancing to Thriller and more. Stay into the evening to view 1,000 hand-carved Jack-O-Lanterns lit against the night sky.

Beautiful-The Carole King Musical tells the story of the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwrite and features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil. Family Sunday: A Walk Back in Time
Take a family-centered tour through the exhibition "Artists in Iowa: The First Century" and learn about the artists who worked in the state from the 1840s to 1940s. A craft activity based on the art in the exhibition is planned.
Homecoming Parade
Come join the homecoming celebration on Main Street in downtown Ames. Included in the parade will be the Cardinal Court, Iowa State representatives and dignitaries, student organizations, and many local businesses and organizations from the Ames area. This year's parade grand marshal is university carillonneur Tin-Shi Tam, who is celebrating her 25th anniversary at Iowa State.

Argentine Tango Lessons
Valerie Williams This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with different partners for practice. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

Leatherwork Earrings Workshop
Andrew Kingsbury Make 2-3 pairs of leather earrings with Andrew Kingsbury from Decadence Jewelry. Basic techniques will include leather tooling and painting with dye. A variety of stamps will be available for adding dimension to your jewelry.
Lecture: The Evolving Identity of the Latino
Alfredo Mirande is a Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Riverside, and a scholar of Chicano sociology, masculinity, the relationship among law, race, class and gender. His talk is being hosted by Lazos, a group of Hispanic/Latino men in leadership positions at Iowa State who are actively engaging Latinx students and mentoring them in their college experience and beyond.
Silver Flora Pendant Class
Rhonda Scott Students will "paint" fine silver paste on real natural elements such as leaves and seed pods in the first class. Pieces will be fired in a kiln before the last class, which will burn away nature and leave a beautiful representation in silver. Students will then sand, polish and finish their one-of-a-kind pendants.
Town Hall with Elizabeth Warren
In 2012, Elizabeth became the first woman from Massachusetts elected to the United States Senate. As a Senator, she has fought to hold the wealthy and well-connected accountable and ensure our government works for everyone. Elizabeth and her husband Bruce have been married for 39 years. They have three grandchildren and a golden retriever named Bailey. Doors open at 5pm.
